About Emma
Emma takes a collaborative approach based in curiosity and authenticity with clients, aiming to reflect the relational needs of clients on a moment-to-moment basis. Meaning that sessions can be gentle, nurturing, playful, or encouragingly challenging as needed. She hopes to create a non-judgemental environment that feels both real and tangible.
Emma sees therapy as a deeply meaningful space where clients can see their true selves reflected with positivity and warmth, helping them embrace change that is attuned to their honest needs and exit patterns of overthinking, emotional avoidance/overwhelm, and unhelpful communication.
Emma works with diverse populations for a range of presentations. She has a special interest in working in the relational realm - including the relationship a client has to themselves, their sexuality, their romantic partners, family, friends, and community. For this work she often works with attachment and helping clients to process through emotions that often hold them back including shame, loneliness, and fear - whether they are emerging in the present or the influential past.
Emma has a background in the social sciences that informs her therapeutic practice, navigating conversations about sociocultural context and identity with nuance and heart. She also worked in the early childhood, aged care, and NDIS sectors prior to becoming a therapist.
Emma enjoys working with anyone who values themselves enough to continue evolving into a value-aligned life. She has a particular interest in working with sexual confidence and self-esteem, non-monogamous relationship structures, LGBTQIA+ clients, kink, and neurodiverse populations.
Emma is neuroaffirming in her practice and has experience supporting Autistic and ADHDer clients to navigate the challenges of living in a neurotypical world. Emma is also diagnosed as an ADHDer and self-identifies as Autistic.
Emma primarily uses therapeutic modalities such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Polyvagal Informed Psychotherapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
In her free-time, Emma enjoys walking down the beach, listening to podcasts, and spending time with family. She lives in Brighton East with her husband.
