Mental Health Therapy

At CUCUMBER, we approach Mental Health Therapy through an integrative, trauma-informed lens that looks beyond surface symptoms to address underlying causes.

We don’t believe mood disorders emerge from nowhere. Collaboratively, we will explore how your history, relationships, and nervous system responses shape the way you experience yourself, others, and the world.

We will work together on a tailored plan to support you in reconnecting with a sense of safety, strength, and emotional presence—because it’s hard to focus on growth when your inner alarm system is stuck on high alert.

Please note that if you're accessing sex therapy, your therapist may recommend that we explore mental health concerns concurrently, where relevant, to ensure a more effective result.

Trauma Therapy

CUCUMBER offers trauma therapy with a focus on attachment, developmental, relational, and sexual trauma. We understand trauma not just as something that happened, but as a disruption in safety, connection, and self-understanding that continues to echo through the body, emotions, and relationships.

Our approach is integrative, combining relational, somatic, and emotion-focused methods to support you in reconnecting with safety and stability while gently exploring the impacts of trauma. We can then move at your pace in supporting you in the processing and integration work.

Together we move towards honouring the intelligence of your survival strategies that kept you safe when needed—while guiding you toward a new way of being in the world. Trauma therapy is not about fixing what’s broken; it’s about reclaiming the parts of you that had to go into hiding.

LGBTQIA+ Therapy

Queer, questioning, gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, aromantic, or just overwhelmed and confused - it can be hard to find a space where the nuances of your sexual, romantic, and fantasy experiences are held and navigated with care.

We are also deeply committed to providing affirming care to our trans*, non-binary, questioning, and gender nonconforming clients in a time where the world is scary and transphobia is on the rise.

At CUCUMBER, we don’t just accept, we genuinely understand. We are a progressive practice that has roots in deconstructivism feminism whereby meaning, identity, and power is thought to have roots in language. This means that we support you to construct your own identity and find power and strength in it. We don’t believe in sticking to societal boxes.

Whether you’re exploring your gender or sexuality, navigating family or relational challenges, or seeking support for mental health or trauma, we offer affirming care that honours the complexity of your lived experience.

We understand that even in progressive spaces, it’s rare to feel fully seen. This is a space to speak freely, reconnect with yourself, and work toward a life that feels more aligned and affirming.

Whether you are autistic, ADHD, diagnosed or self-identified, or curious to explore the idea that you might be, having a therapist who understands how you think and can meet you on the same wavelength is so important.

Every neurodiverse person has a different experience of the world, and so we approach every client with curiosity to understand and tailor our therapeutic approach to meet your needs.

We work collaboratively to reduce overwhelm, explore sensory needs, unmask safely, and process the grief, shame, or trauma that often comes from trying to fit into neurotypical systems.

Couples Counselling

Every relationship has its seasons — moments of ease and moments of strain. While some couples can navigate challenges and find their way back to connection, others feel stuck: isolated, unheard, or locked into patterns of conflict. Communication begins to falter, intimacy fades, and partners can start to feel more like opponents than allies.

At CUCUMBER, couples counselling is a space to slow down, listen differently, and rebuild a sense of emotional safety. We explore the patterns that keep you apart and support you both to reconnect with what brought you together.

Therapy is grounded in approaches that work experientially to shift patterns in real-time, helping you better understand one another’s needs, fears, and emotional signals.

We recognise that every couple is different — shaped by your histories, expectations, and evolving life together. With curiosity and care, we help you move toward a more secure, supportive, and fulfilling connection.

Please note: We do not offer couples therapy in relationships where violence is present.

Types of couples concerns we support:

  • Emotional disconnection

  • Healing from affairs

  • Attachment concerns

  • Relational/life stress

Sex Therapy (Couples)

Sexual concerns often show up in relationships as distance, frustration, or a quiet sense that something’s missing. Whether you’re navigating desire discrepancies, pain, disconnection, or long-standing tension, couples sex therapy offers a safe and affirming space to explore what’s going on — together.

At CUCUMBER, we view sexual concerns as relational, even when they stem from individual challenges. We gently explore patterns of relating, unspoken assumptions, and core emotional needs so that you and your partner can reconnect with pleasure, trust, and curiosity.

There is no one-size-fits-all sex life. What matters is learning how to speak openly, listen generously, and grow together. Getting support to navigate the journey towards reestablishing, or creating, pleasure and satisfaction in your relationship is a gift of love and an act of true belief.

Types of sexual concerns we support:
